ArtForum 3, Freiburg, Germany
A site-specific, public intervention: the gallery has a public screen in a very charming, touristy area of Freiburg, Germany. In my video, seemingly typical images of Germany receive an unexpected caption: "Brazil." Then images of what looks like Turkey are captioned as "Germany." The video traces a parallel between the German immigration to America, (where they brought their culture) and the Turkish presence in their country nowadays (resented by conservatives). As a curiosity, a lot of the German-Brazilian architecture is actually older than Freiburg's own, dating from early XIX century. Most of historical Freiburg was rebuilt after 2nd World War. What is more authentic?
